CARA BUZZELL’S VAPESCAPE
A motion piece exploring the synthesis of analog textures and digital tools to visualize Daniel Birch’s soundscape “Analysis of Rising and Falling,” 2021.  Audio was manipulated to create a condensed, looping version of Birch’s piece.

Playing off of the noisy, fractured landscape of Daniel Birch’s piece, this video piece uses the overlay and repetition of both hand-created textures and digital manipulations. Image creation methods ranged from scanning metal and plastic materials to the layering of <div> elements in HTML. The resulting hybrid images along with a distinctive typographic treatment work together in a motion sequence that amplifies the nuances of Birch’s audio work.
